This is because in the future Dr. Hwang's technique to produce SCNT embryonic stem cells will replace eventually most of the current methods of medical treatment.
수정란 줄기세포 (in vitro fertilization (IVF) embryonic stem cell)는 면역 거부반응((Immune rejection)이 있 어 가치가 없습니다.
In-vitro fertilization (IVF) embryonic stem cells, for instance, cannot be applied to the treatment of humans without first overcoming immune response and rejection.
성체줄기세포( adult stem cell)또한 이미 어느 정도 분화된 (differentiated)상태이기 때문에 제한범위가 많아서 그 효용가치가 상당히 떨어진다.
Adult stem cells also have limited applications and are of less benefit to humans since these cells have already been differentiated.

However, you could not openly make such a remark. Why?

But Dr. Hwang had already taken the lead in SCNT embryonic stem cell research and had successfully produced more than 100 blastocysts via somatic cell nuclear transfer.
This technique is unique in the world.
게다가 특허권을 모두 국가에 헌납한다고 합니다. 기가 찰 노릇이죠.
Moreover, Dr. Hwang said he would dedicate the patent on his unique technique to the Korean nation. This action must have sounded to this group of conspirators that Dr. Hwang was totally out of his mind.
그들에겐 그래서 그들은 아주 오래전부터 머리를 굴리기 시작하죠. 왜냐?
Therefore, they might have fomented the conspiracy against Dr. Hwang for quite some time. Why?
그들은 장사꾼이니까요 장사꾼은 쉴 새 없이 머리를 굴리는 법입니다.
Because, it is reasonable to assume that they wanted to make a fortune based on Dr. Hwang’s technique.
그래서 결론적으로 이러한 작전이 나왔다고 보시면 됩니다.
As a result, they schemed against Dr. Hwang in order to ostracize him from the scientific community.
먼저 난자 윤리문제(ethnical issue)로 윤리성과 이후에 시도될 실험을 차단하기 위해 난자를 아예 구하기 힘들도록 만듭니다.
First of all, they brought up the ethical issue on the sale and purchase of human eggs and then stopped providing Dr. Hwang with human eggs in order to hamper Dr. Hwang’s research.
그 다음에 논문 조작의 함정에 빠뜨립니다
Next, they managed to lead and entrap Dr. Hwang into falsifying of his paper.
그러기 위해서는 줄기세포가 하나라도 있으면 안되겠지요
To eventually succeed in their intrigues, they have got to disallow Dr Hwang from producing even a single embryonic stem cell.
그래서 2004년 논문은 유영준 자신이 가담했기에 실제 체세포줄기세포(somatic cell stem cell)가 존재하지만 처녀생식(Parthenogenesis)으로 만들어 버립니다.
So, Young-Jun Ryu, one of the co-authors of the 2004 paper, successfully managed to produce an embryonic stem cell, but falsified the result as a parthenogenetic embryonic stem cell.
이건 서울대 조사위( SNU Investigation Committee)라는 엄청난 권력 기관이 뒷받침 해주지 못하면 이끌어 내기가 힘듭니다.
This conclusion could not have been drawn without the explicit cooperation of the SNU Investigation Panel.
그리고 나서 재연할 기회조차 주지 않음으로써 시간을 유리하게 가져 갑니다.
Furthermore, the Investigation Panel refused to allow Dr. Hwang the opportunity to reproduce another embryonic stem cell.
그리고 동시에 쏟아지는 주류 언론들(major media)의 엄청난 폭격 과 각종 토론 프로그램에 쏟아져 나오는 전문가들 하나같이 황박사님을 비난합니다.
Moreover, major media and every single talk show on TV with one accord took the side of the SNU investigation Panel and started firecely condemning Dr. Hwang.
하지만 알고 보니 대부분 문신용과 관련된 사람이거나 세포응용사업단(Stem cell Research center in Seoul National University)과 관련 된 사람들이죠.
Most of the SNU Investigation Panel Members turned out to have a connection with Shin-Yong Moon or belong to the Stem Cell Research Center at Seoul National University.
그리고 서울대 조사위라는 걸 통째로 움직일 수 있는 사람은 문신용 밖에 없습니다.
Nobody else but Shin-Yong Moon can entirely sway the SNU Investigation Panel.
게다가 황교수님에게 배양업체로 미즈메디를 소개해준것도 문신용입니다
Besides, it was Shin-Young Moon who had introduced Mizmedi, a hospital specializing in culturing embryonic stem cells to Dr. Hwang.
노성일 이사장이 기자회견 할 때 비서가 와서 기자회견 끝내게 합니다.
그때 비서의 귀속말에서도 문신용 이라는 이름이 나옵니다
When Sung-Il Rho was in a press conference, the secretary of Sung-Il Rho interrupted the press conference to deliver Shin-Yong Moon’s message whispering to Sung-Il Rho’s ear, saying in effect to wrap up the press conference and to call him back right away.
우리는 이 장면에서 노성일이 문신용의 하수인이라는걸 직감적으로 느낄 수 있습니다.
We could sense that Sung-Il Rho was perceived as a puppet of Shin-Young Moon.
따라서 황교수님팀에는 줄기세포가 단 한개도 있으면 안됩니다.
In this perspective, the conspirators could have managed to place Dr. Hwang’s team in a position not to keep a single embryonic stem cell.
왜냐하면 일단은 황박사님을 죽일 수 있는 가장 큰 명분을 쌓을 수 있습니다
This result would allow the conspirators an undisputable justification to bring down Dr. Hwang.
그리고 줄기세포가 하나도 없어야지 논문과 함께 특허까지도 취소할 수 있는 명분이 생기는 것입니다.
Moreover, without embryonic stem cells, Dr. Hwang would have no choice but to retract his paper from the Science journal and accordingly cancel the patent.
왜 바꿔치기를 했는지 이제 아시겠죠.
You can now understand why the conspirators switched Dr. Hwang’s embryonic stem cells and replaced them with Mizmedi’s IVF embryonic stem cells.
지금 논문이 취소 되고 특허가 취소되는 이유도 줄기세포가 하나도 존재 하지 않기 때문입니다.
Dr. Hwang’s paper has already been retracted but the patent resulting from this paper has yet to be cancelled, because all the embryonic stem cells mentioned in the paper turned out to be faked.
만약 한개라도 있다면 특허는 보정하면 되고 논문에 실린 줄기세포 기술도 사실로 확인이 되는겁니다
Even with the existence of a single embryonic stem cell, the patent will not be cancelled and Dr. Hwang will have proven that he possesses the technique to produce a blastocyst as a vehicle for the culture of embryonic stem cells.
이제 왜 서울대 조사위가 재연 기회는 절대 줄 수 없다고 얘기하는지 알 수 있을 겁니다.
You understand now why the SNU investigation panel did not give Dr. Hwang the opportunity to reproduce an embryonic stem cell.
그래서 하루빨리 재연기회를 드려야 되는 이유가 빨리 줄기세포를 다시 만들어 내야지 적어도 특허만큼은 지킬 수 있기 때문입니다.
The sooner Dr. Hwang is given the chance to reproduce an embryonic stem sell , the sooner he can produce the embryonic stem cell so that he will be able to keep the patent.
그렇다면 유영준은 이런 음모를 꾸며서 뭘 얻을 수 있나-
By the way, what benefits would Young-Joon Ryu get by participating in the conspiracy against Dr. Hwang?
황교수님의 2004년 논문이 취소되면 자신이 2003년 10월에 발표한 석사논문에서 한개의 건강한 배반포(blastocyst)를 성공한 내용이 나옵니다 이것이 세계최초로 인정받게 될 것이고 배반포 까지의 핵심 원천기술에 대한 특허는 유영준이 차지 할 수 있는 기반이 마련되는 것입니다
Young-Joon Ryu published his master’s thesis in October, 2003 on the basis of successfully producing a healthy blastocyst. With Hwang's 2004 paper withdrawn, Young-Joon Ryu would be accredited as the world's first to have produced a blastocyst and lay the foundation for his patent claim based on this technique to produce a blastocyst.
노성일과 문신용은 뭘 원했나?
And what might have it been Noh and Moon wanted?
그렇다면 이 둘은 배반포 이후의 줄기세포 원천 기술을 원했을 겁니다 .
They both may have wanted to possess the technique for after-blastocyst culture of embryonic stem cells.
그리고 줄기세포주가 확립된 상태에서 분화시키고 임상실험(clinical trial)을 시키는 건 한연구소에서 하기에는 너무나 방대한 실험입니다 .
A research center alone cannot afford to differentiate embryonic stem cell lines and conduct a clinical test as well.
어차피 그쪽 분야에서는 앞서 있는 미국과 전 세계와 손잡고 공동연구를 해야 되는 부분입니다 .
This process, inevitably, should be corroborated with the USA and other countries whose technology for differentiating embryonic stem cell lines and conducting clinical tests is far more advanced.
따라서 환자 맞춤형 줄기세포(patient-specific embryonic stem cell) 의 핵심 원천기술은 두 가지가 되는 것입니다
Incidentally, the technique for patient-specific embryonic stem cells is divided into two different domains:
첫째 핵치환해서(nuclear transfer) 배반포(blastocyst)까지 만드는 기술
First: producing blastocysts via nuclear transfer.
둘째 배반포에서 줄기세포주(stem cell line)로 배양(culture)시키는 기술
Second: culturing embryonic stem cell lines from these blastocysts
이들이 사이좋게 이 핵심 원천기술 두 가지를 특허로 나눠먹기 하려고 했다면 충분히 가능한 일이라고 봅니다.
You can easily reason that these intriguers planned to equally share these two techniques by acquiring their patents for themselves.
따라서 앞으로 검찰 수사의 초점은 유영준과 문신용 단장쪽으로 맞춰지게 해야 합니다 .
And so, the Prosecution should focus their future investigation on Young-Joon Ryu and Shin-Young Moon, Director of Stem Cell Research Center.
만약 검찰이 윤현수 정도에서 꼬리자르기를 하게 된다면 피디수첩(PD Notebook) 또한 정당성을 가지게 되는 것입니다 .
If the Prosecution only probes the most insignificant participants of this alleged conspiracy, PD Notebook argued with enough justification.
피디수첩의 만행을 밝혀 내기 위해서라도 절대 꼬리 자르기식으로 수사가 마무리 되게 해서는 안됩니다.
In order to reveal the unforgivable treacherous acts by PD Notebook, the Prosecution must probe everybody involved in the alleged conspiracy no matter who they are.
따라서 앞으로 우리가 행동해야할 방향점을 이야기해 드리겠습니다 .
So I would like to propose some directions of our future action
첫째 국내외의 검증할 수 있는 모든 줄기세포는 검증하도록 검찰에 압박하십시오
First, we must compel the prosecution to verify every possible-to-verify embryonic stem cells lines no matter whether they are located inside or outside of the country.
둘째 논문은 조작된걸로 판결이 나더라도 최소한 특허만큼은 김선종이 유출한 줄기세포를 하루빨리 찾아내서 증명을 하든지 아니면 속히 황교수님에게 재연기회를 드려서 빨리 다시 체세포 핵치환 줄기세포 (Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT) Embryonic Stem Cell )를 만들 수 있도록 기회를 드려야 한다고 압박해 주십시오
Secondly, even if Dr. Hwang’s 2005 paper happen to have been falsified after all, his patent application should nevertheless be granted. we must put pressure on the Prosecution either to find or recover the embryonic stem cells that Sung-Jong Kim wrongly removed as soon as possible or to give Dr. Hwang another chance to quickly reproduce SCNT embryonic stems cell in order to keep his patent.
셋째 수사의 초점을 문신용과 유영준 그리고 서울대조사위와의 관계로 맞추도록 해야합니다.
Third, we must urge the prosecution to focus its investigation on the appropriateness of the connections between Shin-Yong Moon, Young-Joon Ryu, and the SNU Investigation Panel.
넷째 앞으로는 특허를 지키는데 총력을 기울여야 할 것입니다
Forth, from now on, we must put all our efforts to protect the patents to ensure they remain in Korea.
다섯째 실험노트 유출은 바로 기술 유출입니다
Finally, disclosing the journal of experimental records is none other than the eventual leakage of Dr. Hwang's technique.
권대기 연구원이 삭제한 이유도 이러한 유출을 방지하기 위한 겁니다.
That is the very reason why Dae-Ki Kwon, one of Dr. Hwang's researchers, deleted all the experiment -related files ; lest his team's technology should leak out.
검찰에서 복구를 해도 다른 곳으로 절대 유출 되지 못하도록 만들어야합니다.
Now We must strongly require that the Prosecution should not leak any information about Dr. Hwang’s technique obtained during the investigation under any circumstance.

디지털 시대의 모든 언론권력은 포털 사이트로 이동하고 있습니다.
All the influence of the media in digital era is shifting toward the use of portal web sites.
하지만 대한민국의 대표 포털들 또한 이번 사태에서 자본독재의 힘을 극명하게 보여 줬습니다.
And yet, we all are clearly witnessing that all our major portal web sites have been dominated by money by conjuring up this premeditated scandal regarding the falsification of the scientific journal paper by Mizmedi.
너무나도 편파적이었던 그들의 메인 기사 선택 역시 우리는 반드시 잊지 말아야 할것이며 국민포털을 만들어야 할 것입니다.
So we should never forget how prejudicially the major portal sites chose the headlines to put up on their main web pages. I suggest we establish a portal web site in the name of the Korean people.
서울대 또한 개혁시키든지 폐지시키든지 해야 합니다 그들은 더 이상 학자집단이 아니기 때문입니다
Seoul National University should either reform itself or shut down for it has lost its academic credibility and is no longer functioning as the scholar group.
대학이 국민을 기만하고 권력을 휘두르며 정치를 하려하면 어떻게 되는지 이번 기회에 똑똑히 보여줘야 합니다.
We must affirm resolutely on this occasion what may become of a university which chooses to deceive people and wield its power with disregard for reason and common sense.
우리가 이번에 이러한 왜곡된 시스템들을 바로 잡지 못한다면 제2의 황교수님같은 피해자는 반드시 속출 할 것입니다.
If we fail to fix such a distorted academic system now, it will surely give rise to other victims like Woo-Suk Hwang.
